President Benigno Aquino III led the groundbreaking ceremony of the new passenger terminal of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), which will be the first "resort airport" in the world.
This new project is envisioned by concessionaire GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC). The construction of the new terminal is expected to be completed by 2018, while the renovation of the existing terminal is slated to be completed in 2019. This new terminal project is seen to boost the airport’s passenger capacity to 12.5 million per year from the current 4.5 million.
Airworks Aviation Academy is looking forward for these developments as we do our flight operations in the Mactan-Cebu International Airport. It will give our students better training and experience in flying the actual airline traffic and international airport standards.
During the three-year construction period, GMCAC President Louie Ferrer said an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 jobs will be created, including subcontractors.
